There aren't many things in life we love more than country music and dogs - so much so that we even made a definitive TheBest Dogs of Country Music list a little while back.

As a result, you'll hopefully forgive us for getting teary-eyed over Kenny Chesney sharing a heartwarming new photo of him cuddling his beloved goldendoodle, Poncho.

The ‘No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems’ hitmaker has wished his adorable dog a happy birthday, reflecting on how quickly the time has passed since he adopted him in 2012.

Alongside a photo of him pressing his head lovingly to Poncho's while on a flight, Chesney has endearingly gushed, “Happy Birthday to Poncho! Can’t believe he is 14 today”.

It appears Poncho has some friends in high places, with ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’ chart-topper Jake Owen joining in on the birthday tributes in the comments section of Chesney's new post (although it seems he may have misremembered his name...), “Pancho! 🎂 I remember when you got him! Happy Birthday”.

Chesney has always been a dog-lover, and another of his four-legged pals, Da Ruba Girl, sadly passed away in 2022. Shortly after, the Knoxville native released his longstanding fan-favourite song of the same name as a touching tribute to her.

During his Sphere Las Vegas residency, Chesney even released some merch t-shirts emblazoned with Da Ruba Girl, with the ‘Everything's Gonna Be Alright’ crooner expressing his gratitude to fans for wearing these tees in the audience this summer.

Chesney is currently gearing up to release his eagerly anticipated debut book, HEART*LIFE*MUSIC, which has been co-written with his good friend, Holly Gleason. It drops on November 4th, with Chesney and Gleason embarking on an expansive book tour across North America in promotion of the book in the coming weeks.

It will serve as a collection of postcards and vignettes from Chesney's storied career, with the country legend transporting readers to vibrant, eclectic places such as the US Virgin Islands, his Tennesseean hometown and Russia over the course of the book.

In addition, we're sincerely hoping there will also be some fond memories of the time he's spent with both Da Ruba Girl and Poncho over the years in HEART*LIFE*MUSIC.
