During a recent interview as part of Kelsea Ballerini's StyleCaster feature, one of Kelsea's producers, Alysa Vanderheym, revealed that the Tennessee country star has new music on the way.
Vanderheym shared that the extended version of Kelsea's widely acclaimed February EP, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, is currently in the works. Kelsea has been teasing a deluxe release for some time now across her socials, with the revamped project expected to include new renditions of songs such as ‘Blindsided’ and ‘Penthouse’.
Whilst out on her 2023 tour, Kelsea has been regularly switching up the lyrics to ‘Penthouse’, while she's also been adding an extra verse to ‘Blindsided’, which she first debuted on Saturday Night Live.
During the interview, Vanderheym confirmed fans’ suspicions that the extended project was currently in the works, as well as paying tribute to Kelsea's artistry, “No one’s ever told her what to do, and I think that’s really rare in country music, and anywhere really, to find someone that’s such a boss, who has such a vision and executes it”.
Alysa Vanderheym co-produced Rolling Up The Welcome Mat and co-wrote three of the tracks from the EP, ‘Penthouse’, ‘Blindsided’ and ‘Interlude’, and it seems Vanderheym is once again taking the helm alongside Kelsea for the deluxe version.
Although we're still waiting for an official tracklist and release date, with Kelsea Ballerini continuing to post shots from the studio, it seems the new project might be arriving sooner than we think.
