Kelsea Ballerini's dog, Dibs, has become just as much a celebrity as his superstar owner. So when fans at London's Roundhouse were treated to a special call with the artist's pup on Saturday night (Dec. 7), it felt like two titans were on stage at once.
During her one-off showcase across The Pond, Ballerini pulled out her cell phone to ring the special guest, FaceTiming her mother mid-show.
"Show us that boy," she said upon pick-up to which Dibs appeared on the phone's screen.
"Wow, look at that handsome, strong boy," she said over fans' applause, adding, "Dibby, all these people are giving you all their well wishes, buddy."
This past summer, the artist revealed that Dibs had been diagnosed with “inoperable cancer in his heart”.
Since then, songs like ‘Penthouse’ – especially the line: "I bought the house with a fence / Enough room for some kids, a backyard for Dibs" – have been difficult for the artist to perform, something that became evident at her recent Madison Square Garden gig.
The crowd assisted the star in singing the rest of the verse and part of the ‘Penthouse’ hook as she composed herself, fighting off tears.
Her London audience over this past weekend seemed to be just as phenomenal, championing the star and her good boy, Dibs.
"enjoyed every split second of our time together, London," she shared across social media, following the performance. "thank you for braving the storms and showing up so loudly and lovely. see you soon."
