Jordan Davis has scored his second UK Country Radio Airplay No. 1, with his 2024 single, ‘I Ain't Sayin’, surging to the peak of the latest listings with 726,091 impressions.
It follows the ‘Next Thing You Know’ hitmaker's debut UK Country Radio Airplay chart-topper, the wittily titled ‘Tucson Too Late’, which leapt to pole position at the start of April 2024.
‘I Ain't Sayin’, which dropped back in July, finds Jordan Davis exploring a more playful, light-hearted persona than that of ‘Buy Dirt’, as he flirts with a woman who's been stood up by her date. The protagonist accepts he's not perfect and might not be the ‘take-home-to-mama’ kind of boyfriend, but he's certainly a better choice than her current man (“That ain't no kinda love, I ain't sayin' I'm the one / I'm just sayin' he sure as hell ain't”). It follows in a similar vein to the uptempo, pop-infused storytelling of one of Jordan Davis’ break-out hits, ‘Singles You Up’.
‘I Ain't Sayin’ replaces Morgan Wallen's breezy, Latin-inspired ‘Love Somebody’ in the top spot of the UK Country Radio Airplay ranking, which became the first song in the chart's history to debut at No. 1 last week. ‘Love Somebody’ also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, Morgan's third song to do so.
Jordan Davis’ ‘I Ain't Sayin’ is followed by Bailey Zimmerman's stormy, nostalgic offering, ‘Holy Smokes’, which slots in at No. 2 with an impressive tally of 715,634 impressions.
The Top 5 is completed by ‘Love Somebody’, Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood's ‘I'm Gonna Love You’ and Dasha's ‘Austin (Boots Stop Workin’) at No. 3, 4 and 5 respectively.
There are a slew of new entries on the UK Country Radio Airplay Chart this week: Priscilla Block's ‘He's My Man’ (No. 36), Darius Rucker's ‘In This Together’ (No. 37), BRELAND and The War and Treaty's ‘Same Work’ (No. 41), Hannah Ellis’ ‘90s Country’ (No. 42), Warren Zeiders’ ‘You For a Reason’ (No. 43), The Castellows’ ‘Ways to Go’ (No. 45), Cody Johnson's ‘Overdue’ (No. 48) and Riley Green's ‘Turnin’ Dirt’ (No. 49).
The biggest mover on this frame is Waylon Wyatt and Bayker Blankenship's much-loved 2024 collaboration, ‘Jailbreak’, which surges a staggering 1464% to reach No. 38.
