Post Malone added some festive magic to Renee Brown's Christmas this year, with the ‘I Had Some Help’ hitmaker giving the waitress a $20,000 tip after spending Christmas Eve at a Houston, Texas dive bar, The Railyard, alongside friends such as Shaboozey.
It's not the first time Post Malone has been celebrated for his generosity, with the genre-blending trailblazer gaining a reputation for his sizeable tips. For instance, Post gave a waitress a $3,000 tip back in October, and even paid for a Scottish singer-songwriter's house deposit in 2023 after bumping into him at a Glasgow bar.
This staggering $20,000 tip is the latest in a string of incidents that consolidate Post Malone's widely accepted status as one of the nicest, most polite people in the music industry.
Renee Brown, a single mother, has underlined in a new interview with Music Mayhem Magazine just how much Post Malone's gesture meant to her, “Going into work Christmas Eve, I was so sad I had to leave my baby girl to go to work. Oblivious that God would send me a Christmas miracle. This is hands down the most humble, personable celebrity I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He changed my life on Christmas fucking Eve, and will forever be grateful. Thank you so much, Austin”.
Renee Brown expanded on this surprise meeting with Post Malone, “I initially didn’t realize he was there until one of my co-workers from my second job came inside and told me that Austin was outside on the patio. I thought he was kidding with me at first, then I kept seeing people go outside. I kept making drinks for like 30 minutes before curiosity got the best of me, and lo and behold, he was there”.
Brown reflected on how, despite The Railyard locals and friends paying his tab, the ‘Pour Me a Drink‘ crooner was adamant that she charge him for something so that he could tip her, “Everyone that he was with was also so kind and inviting, we had a great night jamming to songs on the jukebox. Then came time for last call and to close. When Austin asked for his check, he didn’t have one because many regulars and his friends bought his beverages. So he asked me to ring him up for a penny or anything, so I did. I continued my close and collected all my checks and started to enter my tips. Then I got to his. It was a tip for 20,000 dollars”.
Brown emphasised how touched she was, “I immediately broke down crying. It was a very emotional night already being away from home, being swamped behind the bar, trying to process that they were even there and then the tip on top...I finally got a chance to stop cleaning and talk to him some more and thank him. I know I was crying and thanking him, but he has no idea exactly how much this meant to me”.
Renee Brown concluded by stressing how impactful that amount of money will prove for her, with the waitress explaining how she's attempting to save up to start her own business. At the moment, Brown works two jobs and home-schools her daughter, Iliana.
Post Malone and Shaboozey were in Houston rehearsing for their Christmas Day performance with Beyoncé, as part of her half-time show at the Houston Texans vs Baltimore Ravens game. The ‘Right About You’ singer-songwriter is currently gearing up for his blockbuster 2025 Big Ass Stadium Tour, which will take the ‘Guy For That’ chart-topper across North America alongside Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell.
Fans will be excited to learn that Post was spending Christmas Eve with Shaboozey, and we're hoping the two artists might have a forthcoming collaboration up their sleeves. During Nashville's Big Bash, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey were filmed dancing gleefully along to Post's Morgan Wallen link-up, ‘I Had Some Help’.
In December, rapper BigXthaPlug revealed that he has collaborations on the way with both Post Malone and Shaboozey as part of his country EP, as well as joint tracks with Morgan Wallen and Jelly Roll. As of yet, there's no official release date for the project.
