Over the last few years, Stagecoach Festival has become one of the buzziest weekends of every country fan's year.
With special guests, surprise collaborations and one-of-a-kind performances, you never know what might come out of the California desert when April rolls around... but a tryst between country megastar Morgan Wallen and revered pop lyricist Lana Del Rey definitely wasn't on our radar as we geared up for Stagecoach 2025.
During her Friday night (April 25) set at the Palomino Stage, Lana Del Rey shared a montage of her biggest hits, as well as some unreleased samples of what we can expect from her long-awaited debut country record, The Right Person Will Stay.
In addition to playing her recently released singles, 'Bluebird' and 'Henry, come on,' the 39-year-old hitmaker saved some of the biggest explosives for last as she performed an unreleased tune called '57.5' as her second to last song.
Making reference to her impressive collection of monthly listeners on Spotify – you guessed it, it was 57.5 million when she wrote the song but has jumped to 61.7 at the time of reporting – LDR also dropped a massive bomb as she entered the final stretch of the tongue-in-cheek song.
Coming off as almost a confessional as opposed to a big tell-all moment, the singer shared mid-song that this was "the last time [she was] ever going to say this line," building the anticipation before singing:
"I kissed Morgan Wallen
I guess kissing me kind of went to his head
If you want my secret to success
I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west"
Ushering in a deafening roar of surprise and cheers from the crowd, the admission was quick to turn heads as country fans far and wide were left saying, "... WHAT?!"
While it's impossible to say whether or not the smooch actually happened, it's apparent that the famed pop artist was poking fun at the controversial country figure, seeing as the rest of '57.5' reads like a beginner's guide to stardom and offers tidbits of comical advice throughout.
We suppose time will tell if the two stars truly locked lipped out west or not but, until then, you can watch the full performance of Lana Del Rey's '57.5,' see below:
In addition to the stunning sizzler, LDR also debuted an unreleased song, 'Husband of Mine,' to kick off her 65-minute set, as well as brought out special guests in George Birge ('Cowboy Songs') and the Secret Sisters ('Let the Light In').
Promising that it would be "a very special country" set when the lineup was announced, the beloved artist shared moving covers of Tammy Wynette's 'Stand By Your Man' and John Denver's iconic 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' in addition to her own slate of hits in 'Summertime Sadness,' 'Norman fucking Rockwell,' 'Video Games' and more.
