Following the final show of his 2026 Soundtrack to Life U.S. tour, Thomas Rhett has been teasing new music via Instagram, giving fans a taste of what's next for the 'Somethin' 'Bout A Woman' songster.
The final show of Rhett's tour took place on Oct. 24, as the 'Die A Happy Man' crooner wrapped the U.S. leg of tour up in Nebraska.
The next day, Oct. 25, Rhett posted a short clip to his Instagram with the cryptic caption, "On the way." The vintage-Esque video showed Rhett doing a mock photoshoot, and as he walks off the set, it's revealed he's in a garage, where the door swings open and an old school truck awaits him; shiny and red and ready to run at the turn of Rhett's wrist.
The clip feels like a tease to an upcoming music video, as a quick shot of Rhett driving the truck is shown, with the lyrics to the teased song playing in the background: "I'm on the freeway, windows and the pedal down."
The second teaser video is more obvious and open than cryptic and mysterious. More clips, most likely from a music video, are shown while Rhett continues singing with the next new lyrics, "Halfway to heaven, headed to your edge of town."
The next post on his Instagram takes a break from the pre-meditated promotional videos, with a behind-the-scenes video that could be a nod to the vintage look Rhett may be preparing as the branding to the new music. As he pretends to talk on an old flip phone, he jokes, "Do y'all have the new version of 'Scream 3' on VHS?"
While it could've been true that the clip was inspired simply by the spirit of Halloween, the question this writer has is simply why did Rhett have a flip phone?
The thought of a "vintage" era for Rhett, intertwined with potential new music, is certainly exciting. As for the song itself, it seems as though Rhett is tapping more into his pop-side, which we know he does so well, but ultimately is a slight turnaround from his recent About A Woman deluxe album.
As the streamline of posts from Rhett comes to a close, he gives fans a final update with a photo taken of him on set, paired with the caption, "I know what I'm thinking about, but I can't tell you just yet."
So, of course, we'll be patiently waiting until Rhett decides it is time to tell fans what he has up his sleeve - and we're betting that whatever he is thinking about, it's something along the lines of a brand-new era for Rhett.
