Holly Macve has shared her new single ‘Daddy’s Gone’.
The Irish singer-songwriter released a video to accompany the single, which features old VHS footage of Macve’s childhood home in Galway, Ireland.
The very personal song was inspired by the phone call she received whilst out on tour in the US, to say her father had passed away.
Speaking of the moment, Macve said “I remember keeping this news to myself and quietly shedding some tears whilst trying to figure out my emotions.
It was a strange feeling, I didn’t know my Dad and had conflicting thoughts about him. Often song-writing is a way for me to understand myself, it’s the best way for me to articulate how I’m feeling and that was definitely the case with ‘Daddy’s Gone’”.
The song is taken from her forthcoming album Not The Girl, which is set to be released on May 14th.
This record follows the successful release of her debut album Golden Eagle, which came out in 2017.
She has already shared ‘Be My Friend’ from the upcoming 11 track album, both songs were written solely by Macve.
