What are HARDY, Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw and Eric Church up to...?

The four country titans have all taken to Instagram today (Monday, January 26th 2026) to tease something major, seemingly revolving around four fictional people. We're not yet sure what exactly this entails, but if we had to hazard a guess, it seems they're hinting at a forthcoming collaboration - or perhaps even a full-blown concept album - with each artist stepping into the shoes of a specific character.

HARDY has shared the name Jones McArthur, who was born on June 5th, 1968 and died on January 5th, January 5th, 2025. Wallen has shared a similar post of what looks to be a leather-bound book, with Hunter McArthur emblazoned across it. Interestingly, Wallen is the only one of these characters that is still alive, and his alter-ego's birth date - May 13th, 1993 - is the same as the Sneedville native's.

As an eagle-eyed Morgan Wallen fanpage - @wallenteers_germany - has discovered, HARDY is listed as a co-writer on an officially registered song on ASCAP, titled ‘McArthur’. He wrote the track with Joshua Dennis Anthony Bagles, Chase McGill and Jameson Rodgers, and we wonder if this is what's dropping on Friday.

Eric Church is embodying Junior McArthur, who was born on September 2nd, 1945 and died on April 4th, 1967. Lastly, Tim McGraw has teased that he is playing John McArthur, who was born on November 2nd, 1920 and died on November 22nd, 1963.

If it is a concept album, rather than a standalone song, we're wondering if this could form part of HARDY's beloved HIXTAPE series, which sees the ‘wait in the truck’ singer-songwriter bringing together an Avengers-style line-up of country hitmakers.

Given the fact that HARDY - who appears to be the lynchpin of this group - has gone to the lengths of giving each character a birth and death date, it seems like he has more planned for them than one song. But hey, given how stacked this line-up is, even if this is all just for a solitary track, we'd still be incredibly excited to hear it.

According to fans at some of HARDY's recent shows, the country-rock maverick has been hinting that he has something up his sleeve for January 30th, which could mean this potential collaboration could be dropping as early as this Friday.

HARDY and Wallen have been best buddies for years now, with the duo having penned countless hits together that have helped to shape the contemporary country sound in Nashville. Wallen and Church have also been pals for a while, with the two artists regularly paying tribute to one another and co-owning the popular lifestyle brand, Field & Stream. McGraw, by contrast, hasn't ventured into the HARDY, Wallen and ERNEST sphere of influence yet, and has never featured on a HIXTAPE album. Could now be the time for the Louisiana legend? Who knows - but one thing's for sure: whatever this mysterious project is, it's going to be huge.
