Hailey Whitters has posted a video of her performing Tyler Childers iconic breakout hit, ‘Feathered Indians’, gifting us fans a combination we never knew we needed.
The ‘Everything She Ain’t’ singer-songwriter took to social media on February 27 to share her rendition of the 2017 Purgatory fan-favorite. Crowned in a trucker hat, Hailey Whitters strums her acoustic guitar and leads her bandmates in the ditty. Although charmingly playful and casual, the rendition is still potent, with the ‘I’m In Love’ artist's sweet twang shining through on the brief take.
“Mr Childers can I adopt this song please,” Hailey Whitters teasingly captioned the post. ‘Feathered Indians’ has become a staple in Hailey's 2024 tour setlist, with the Iowa native also frequently performing covers of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ and Dolly's ‘9 to 5’.
“This blew my socks off in Indianapolis,” one user commented on the post. “I loved when you covered it in Charlotte and so did the rest of the crowd,” another wrote, with one more echoing, “The GASP I let out when this was in the set was unlike any gasp ever.”
Hailey is currently in the middle of her Can’t Tie’r Down tour ,and will soon hit the road in support of Dan + Shay, Luke Combs, and Jason Aldean for much of the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Tonight (February 28), the artist is headed to Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in celebration of being included in the latest American Currents: State of the Music exhibit. In another Instagram post, she delved into how much the honor means to her.
Alongside a video of her delivering a tearful rendition of her 2020 hit, 'Ten Year Town', Hailey wrote, "gettin’ in my feels as I head to the [Country Music Hall of fame and Museum] tonight to celebrate being included in the American Currents exhibit tonight...”.
Aptly, the exhibit also features Tyler Childers himself, alongside the likes of Morgan Wallen, Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves, Molly Tuttle, The War and Treaty, Allison Russell and more.
