During a conversation with Holler, Big Loud's Ashley Cooke revealed that Post Malone is working closely with a number of figures at her label as he completes his debut country album.
When asked if she'd be up for a collaboration, Cooke shared that Post Malone “actually works with a lot of the people at my label on his country project”, before underlining her willingness to hit the studio together, “I'm very excited. I hope that I can meet him at some point and maybe do some something together, it'd be a lot of fun”.
Ashley Cooke's Big Loud label-mate, Morgan Wallen, has previously confirmed that he and Post Malone have been recording together, with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker teasing a now-deleted snippet of a collaboration, ‘I Had Some Help’, in December.
In a 2023 Billboard interview, Morgan joked about their early-hours sessions, “[He] likes to write really, really late at night - and I can’t do that three nights in a row. I can do that one night. I can start about 5pm, but starting at 10pm - that’s rough”.
Given the fact that HARDY recruited Post Malone for his upcoming HIXTAPE Vol. 3 project, as well as performing at the 2023 CMA Awards alongside both him and Morgan, it seems likely the country-rocker will feature on Posty's upcoming country record.
Similarly, Ernest has been photographed in the studio on a number of occasions with Posty, so it looks like the ‘Flower Shops’ crooner will play a part in the record. At the moment, it's unclear whether Ern is contributing solely as a songwriter or as a vocalist too.
As for the other Big Loud members working on Post Malone's album, we imagine the label's go-to super-producer, Joey Moi, will have a hand in the project, while up-and-comers such as Lauren Watkins and Jake Worthington would seemingly align with Posty's radio-friendly yet traditional-leaning approach to country.
With Lana Del Rey having now joined Post Malone on his Music City adventure, it's safe to say it's an exciting time to be a country fan. Ashley Cooke emphasised how these high-profile Pop and Hip Hop crossovers only add to the genre's credibility and appeal, “Country is having a really cool moment. It's always been a really dope genre, and I've always loved it and love everybody else in it. But I think it's now getting the well-deserved recognition that it's needed for a long time”.
We're still eagerly awaiting a release date for Post Malone's 2024 country album, but given the fact that a number of Big Loud heavyweights are joining him at Stagecoach in April, this is shaping up to be the perfect springboard to launch his album rollout. If we're lucky, Posty's set might includes some blockbuster on-stage link-ups with the likes of Morgan Wallen, HARDY and Ernest to showcase some of these unreleased Big Loud collaborations ahead of the project.
