Speaking to Holler, Ian Munsick shed some light on the inspiration behind his new Western Wedding EP, which features revamped versions of four fan-favourite tracks.
The Wyoming native has become renowned for his mercurial, shape-shifting vocals, along with his unique infusion of classic Western country music and contemporary instrumentation. Few artists can flit so convincingly between the EDM-country fusion of ‘Humble’ to the stirring, fiddle-driven faith of ‘More Than Me’.
Throughout all the chameleonic flourishes, Ian Munsick's unwavering dedication to his wife, his family and his home run through his music as immovably as the great Snake River.
As a result, Munsick had no shortage of material to choose from when compiling his new Western Wedding EP, which reimagines ‘Me Against The Mountain’, ‘Ranch Hand’, ‘More Than Me’ and ‘Long Haul’ to create the perfect nuptials soundtrack.
Ian Munsick explained to Holler what inspired the project, “For the last few years, fans have flooded my inbox requesting wedding versions of my songs. After we released White Buffalo a few months ago, I figured it was time to give the people what they want”.
The Western Wedding EP knits together all the core themes that Ian Munsick has become synonymous with, and the inclusion of instrumental renditions of each romantic ballad introduces a welcome sense of peaceful quietude and endearing contentment.
Munsick underlined, “My music is made for lovers, especially lovers who’ve decided to spend their days in the west. Having my songs be played while someone walks down the aisle or during a first dance is such an honor. I’m grateful to be a small part of a lifelong memory”.
Despite Ian Munsick specifying his target audience as those in ‘the west’, the magic of the country prodigy's new project - and indeed, his music in general - is that it is equally as enjoyable to those leading the furthest thing from a Western lifestyle.
Depending on who you are, Ian Munsick provides evocative realism or visceral escapism - and either way, it's pretty darn irresistible, as he demonstrates on his new Western Wedding EP.
