It’s CMA Fest week in Nashville, which means you never really know who might make a surprise appearance - whether you’re stationed at the Nissan Stadium, or holding the fort down at one of the artist bars on Broadway.
Last night, Lukas Nelson offered attendees at his intimate Chief’s set a double-surprise - both in terms of his special guest, and their subsequent song choice.
Nelson brought out Eric Church - the owner of Chief’s - for a fantastic cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Please, Please, Please’.
With Carpenter dominating both the airwaves and the charts over the past year or so, it’s brilliant to see two country stalwarts giving the ‘Espresso’ hitmaker her well-earned flowers.
Nelson and Church aren’t the only country artists showing that have been showing love to Carpenter of late, with Zach Bryan sharing a video of him singing along to ‘Please, Please, Please’, while Ian Munsick regularly covers ‘Espresso’ as part of his rip-roaring show.
With Eric Church confirmed as one of the mystery guests at Spotify House tonight (June 5th), we’re wondering if The Chief might switch roles and invite Lukas Nelson onto the stage. It’s Nashville, after all - so anything can happen.
