Ella Langley has taken to Instagram to make a heartfelt appeal to her fans, as the Alabama native stands on the brink of a momentous achievement. Langley's hit single, ‘Choosin’ Texas’, is currently jostling for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

It would mark the ‘you look like you love me’ singer-songwriter's first ever song to reach the pinnacle of this prestigious all-genre ranking. If Langley proves successful, it would be a remarkable feat, with less than ten women in the history of country music having achieved this. Langley would also be only the third female artist in a lead role to top both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs chart, with the previous two being global music titans, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Judging by the statistics being collected so far by Talk of the Charts, Langley is battling it out for No. 1 with another hugely popular anthem, Olivia Dean's ‘The Man I Need’.

Earlier in the week, Langley was being predicted to pip Dean to the post, but the latest report at the time of writing puts ‘The Man I Need’ a narrow 4 points ahead of ‘Choosin’ Texas’.

The song, which finds Langley crooning mournfully about a lost lover across a steel-soaked, traditional-leaning backing, is showing no sings of slowing down, though. Just this week, the Lone Star State-inspired earworm was crowned the No. 1 best-selling song of 2026 in the US by total units, surpassing Swift's ‘The Fate of Ophelia’.

Via Instagram, Langley has confirmed she has dropped the price of ‘Choosin’ Texas’ on iTunes to just 69p in an attempt to give a last-minute boost to sales. It's worth flagging that the tracking period for this week's Billboard Hot 100 ended on Thursday (February 5th) - but even if Langley does not triumph this week, she could still do so next week, and every stream and purchase counts. The country phenom addresses fans, stressing what a seismic moment this would be for the genre.

Langley begins, “Y'all have put me in a position to do something only a few females in country music history have ever done. I'm being told we're neck and neck on getting the #1 and if we have one last push on ITunes we might make country music history!”

The ‘weren't for the wind’ hitmaker goes on, “Less than 10 women [sic] in country music have gotten #1 on Billboard”, before sharing a photo of her and Miranda Lambert - who co-write ‘Choosin’ Texas’ with Langley, Joy Beth Taylor and Luke Dick - sharing a warm declare, declaring, “I know we can do it”. Langley concludes with a rousing message, “Let's do it for women & let's do it for country music”.

‘Choosin’ Texas‘ serves as the lead single from Langley's eagerly awaited new album, Dandelion, which arrives on April 10th, 2026. Alongside the much-loved title-track, the project, which has been co-produced with Lambert and Ben West, is expected to feature previously teased tracks, ‘Be Her’, ‘Low Lights’ and ‘Lovin’ Life Again’.
