The country music world currently seems split. On one side, you have fans who are scouring the internet for clues about the rumoured love triangle between Ella Langley, Riley Green and Megan Moroney, and on the other, you have fans that are starting to feel a tad jaded by the rush to assign some deeper meaning every time Langley, Green or Moroney breathes. It's clear that Langley is part of the latter group.
In a new TikTok post, Ella Langley has responded to all the follower-led conjecture and speculation that her new song, ‘Never Met Anyone Like You’, was about Riley Green.
Alongside a video of her gesturing in mock frustration, Langley has captioned the clip by pointing out how, when she drops a love song, fans start exclaiming, “We know who this is about”, and when it's a break-up song, similarly, they flood the comments with claims that, “We know who this is about”. In reality, the ‘you look like you love me’ hitmaker underlines, this is usually the furthest thing from the truth.
Ella Langley has emphasised, “Maybe I have a life outside of social media drama”, as she gently encourages fans to focus on the music, rather than her current dating status.
Amusingly, Riley Green has replied to Ella Langley's video in what appears to be a since-deleted comment, with the ‘Different ‘Round Here’ crooner sharing a GIF of Denzel Washington saying, “Phew! Good News!”, as he jokingly expresses his relief at Langley's implication that ‘Never Met Anyone Like You’ is about him.
The track, which dropped on Friday and was co-written by HARDY and Jordan Schmidt, begins as a rose-tinted, love-song, before wittily transforming into an accusatory anthem, revealing that the protagonist's partner cheated on them with her friend.
It was the lyric “‘Cause you said it was us till the end / Then you went and hooked up with my friend” that caught fans’ attention, with speculation running wild as they theorised this was about Riley Green being spotted with Megan Moroney in recent months.
Green and Moroney were both holidaying in St. Barts earlier in the year, before being seen driving around Alabama, and then at an airport. It came after fans had long suspected Ella Langley and Green were an item, mostly due to the chemistry the 2025 tour-mates exude across both ‘you look like you love me’ and ‘Don't Mind If I Do‘.
More recently, however, Megan Moroney seemingly suggested her and Riley Green had called it quits, mouthing to a fan wearing a t-shirt of Green, “He f***ed up!”
Either way, whether this was all one big publicity stunt, or whether fans have just been reading too much into the situation, one thing is for sure - ‘Never Met Anyone Like You’ is an infectious, country-rock earworm that showcases both Ella Langley's sonic and tonal versatility - and we certainly can't wait to hear what's next.
