Our favorite Emo cowgirl, Megan Moroney, just released the visually dazzling music video for her latest single, '6 Months Later'–and fans are already going wild over all the hidden easter eggs.
The video dropped Wednesday (July 16), following an immersive rooftop experience at Nashville’s Emo Cowgirl pop-up at The Westin, and it's packed with callbacks, color clues and Moroney's signature sass.
Co-directed by Moroney and longtime creative partner CeCe Dawson, the clip opens in a full rom-com montage mode: curlers in her hair, pink feather robe, popcorn in hand and hopelessly channel-surfing on a retro TV set.
That’s when a cheesy infomercial for “Karma Now! Hotline” interrupts promising justice in six months. She dials in on a bedazzled rotary phone, and the fun begins.
Moroney starts in multi-character cameos–heartbroken caller and call-center operator and even an '80s inspired workout girl all while a montage of revenge pranks play out. Garbage bag run-ins, ice-cold showers, restaurant rejections–the whole vibe is petty perfection.
Even in between all of the chaos, her eagle-eyed fans have spotted Easter eggs that hint at her next era.
In one shot, a poster on the call center wall reads, “The world is hard on beautiful things,” while another says “It’s a Long Way Down”–both of which have been speculated as unreleased song titles.
Color palettes are also sparking conversation, as after centering green in her Lucky era and blue for Am I Okay?, this video leans hard into hot pink and lavender–from her fuzzy robe to the neon-lit hotline set.
Many fans believe this is the mark of a new era and aesthetic chapter ties to her MM3 visual world. Even props like the pink rotary phone and a jar on the desk (a recurring object in her social content) are being dissected, proving once again that Moroney doesn’t do anything by accident.
All visuals aside, the single was co-written by Megan Moroney with Ben Williams and David “Messy” Mescon. The song's original release on June 20 immediately made a strong impression, debuting at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her highest-performing single at country radio to date.
With its cheeky visuals and easter eggs tucked throughout each shot, '6 Months Later' feels like more than just a standalone track; it may be the first real look into Moroney's next chapter.
If one thing for sure, it's that her fans are watching closely and she seems more than happy to keep them guessing.
