Dasha's infectious 2023 single, ‘Austin’, has claimed the top spot on this week's UK Country Airplay Chart (April 12-18), replacing Parker McCollum's ‘Burn It Down’ at No. 1.
‘Austin’, which appears on the fast-emerging singer-songwriter's acclaimed 2024 album, What Happens Now?, has become the inspiration for a viral TikTok line-dance. This has helped propel the beat-driven earworm up the charts in both the UK and the US, with Dasha slotting in at No. 5 on last week's UK Country Airplay Chart.
Now, however, she's leapt up to the pinnacle of the UK rankings, enjoying a 16% boost in impressions this week to take her tally to 657,713. Hot on Dasha's heels is Ashley Cooke on 655,203 with her assured, undulating fan-favourite, ‘Your Place’, taken from her widely celebrated 2023 debut full-length album, shot in the dark.
Aptly, Dasha was in the UK this past week, with the up-and-coming artist performing an intimate set at London's Third Man Records on Thursday evening (April 18th), during which she excitingly previewed an unreleased song, ‘Ain't It Baby’.
The biggest riser on this week's UK Country Airplay Chart is Lainey Wilson's swaggering, traditional-leaning new single, ‘Country's Cool Again’, which earned a colossal 945% increase in impressions to take the uptempo track to No. 36.
With Lainey currently in the UK for her European leg of shows, the buzz around her upcoming run of shows could well bump ‘Country's Cool Again’ into the Top 10 come next Sunday.
Completing the Top 5 on this week's UK Country Airplay Chart is Nate Smith's ‘Bulletproof’, another Lainey hit, ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ and Sam Hunt's ‘Outskirts’.
