One of the genre's most exciting up-and-comers, Lanie Gardner, is starting the year off on a hot streak.

Following the release of her instant earworm, 'Buzzkill,' in mid-January, the North Carolina native has started teasing that her highly-anticipated sophomore album may be arriving sooner than we thought.

"Have I got some songs for y'all! I wanna know what y'all think," the young singer-songwriter shared on socials, before playing a snippet of her unreleased song, 'Don't Fall In Love.'

Having forged her own signature blend of classic country, southern rock and bluesy, moody rock, 'Don't Fall In Love' falls perfectly in line to Gardner's brand and growing discography.

In a clever use of wordplay, she sets the stage for this twisty heartbreak ballad, singing, "I know what I said / And I know I said I meant it / It is what it is / But honestly it isn't / I know that one day you'll let me go / But whatever you do..."

Launching into the chorus, she explains that this flame that just won't seem to go out can do all of the things a relationship entails but begs of them not to fall in love with someone else.

"Call her your girl / Say you'd lasso the moon / Then promise her the world / But whatever you do / Don't fall in love / Don't you fall in love with someone else," she pleads.

The new tune feels distinctly Fleetwood Mac-coded, which is fitting given Gardner first gained massive popularity after posting a cover of the bands 'Dreams' in October 2020, which has now gained well over 60 million views.

Excitingly, the rising artist teased that 'Don't Fall In Love' could become her first ever duet, though the jury is still out on who might add their vocals to the mix, with Gardner cheekily asking, "Should I get a little silly and turn this one into a duet? Tag someone you think would be a fit…"

The new teaser follows Gardner's debut album, A Songwriter's Diary, which arrived in October of 2024. The 10 tracks, written entirely by Gardner, include vulnerable and revealing songs like 'Lord Knows,' 'Mountains and Miller,' 'Somewhere, Nowhere in Carolina' and more.

At the top of 2025, the nearly 25-year-old released her sassy new single, 'Buzzkill,' marking the start of bold new chapter in her sound.

Throughout the year, Gardner will be touring alongside Corey Kent on his Black Bandana Tour, as well as on Gavin Adcock's Need To Tour starting in August.

I know what I said
And I know I said I meant it
It is what it is
But honestly it isn't
I know that one day you'll let me go
But whatever you do

Don't fall in love
Don't you fall in love with someone else
Don't fall in love
Don't you fall in love with someone else

Call her your girl
Say you'd lasso the moon
Then promise her the world
But whatever you do
Don't fall in love
Don't you fall in love with someone else
