Turnpike Troubadours have become known for championing quality over quantity, with the trailblazing Red Dirt band often going as long as five or six years in-between albums.
Therefore, whenever we get a hint, implication or even a whiff of new music from the Oklahoma six-piece, a ripple of immense excitement fizzles through their loyal fanbase.
At the moment, there's been no mention of new songs or a project from Evan Felker and his crew, but we think their website might be offering a clue that an announcement is en route.
If you visit the official Turnpike Troubadours site (something we do all too often as we consider buying yet another piece of merch), where there was previously a tour-page, links to new music and other typical features of a band's website, this has now disappeared.
All that remains is a tantalising “Coming Soon” emblazoned across the top of the site, against a mysteriously mottled green backdrop. Of course, it's not clear what exactly is ‘coming soon’, but we're already getting our hopes up that it might mean new music.
Turnpike Troubadours’ last record, A Cat in the Rain, arrived in 2023, and given the fact that the project before that dropped in 2017, we'd resigned ourselves to the prospect of at least one or two more Turnpike-less years before we'd get another album.
However, with the band joining Zach Bryan on a slew of high-profile 2025 shows, including Dublin's Phoenix Park triple-header and Bryan's two BST Hyde Park dates - as well as unveiling a headlining UK tour - fans are starting to speculate that Turnpike Troubadours might be planning to capitalise on this visibility with a new project.
If there is music on the horizon, it remains to be seen whether we're in for a single, an EP or a full-blown album. We'll certainly be keeping our fingers crossed it's the latter.
