Is country music's favorite cowboy, Cody Johnson, setting his sights on the silver screen? A recent appearance on Audacy’s Friday Night Takeover points to maybe, the 'Dirt Cheap' star having hinted that an acting debut could be joining his résumé.
Johnson explained he has been in conversation with Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of the Western drama series Yellowstone, about potential opportunities – or as he described "a few movie things" – in front of the camera. He even shared having to turn down appearances on the hit television show due to scheduling conflicts.
“We’ve tried a couple of times [to appear on Yellowstone] and my schedule is too busy to put aside the time," the country powerhouse shared. However, he added optimistically, "We’re looking ahead to the future. There’s a few movie things were I’m like, ‘Look, if you guys give me the notice I can make this happen.”
While little is known about the star's future on the big screen, he's continuing to cement his place on the big stage. The artist has been spending the better part of 2024 traversing North America on his widely popular Leather tour in support of his 2023 album of the same name.
When not on the road, Johnson has been racking up nominations at awards show, most notably earning a nod for the coveted Entertainer of the Year honor at the 2024 Academy of Country Music awards.
Perhaps he'll have the same affect on Hollywood as he's had on Music City recently.
