After a flurry of blurred-out teasers and cryptic posts, Carly Pearce has now revealed she'll be releasing a brand new collaboration with Chris Stapleton, ‘We Don't Fight Anymore’, on June 16.
Well, it's safe to say it was worth the wait. Across the past few days, Pearce has shared a series of social media posts, each hinting at the immanent release of a new single. First, we got the blurry artwork, then we got a title, and now - at long last - we have confirmation of the blockbuster, ‘Tennessee Whiskey’-shootin’ guest vocalist.
The new track, ‘We Don't Fight Anymore’, will feature the soulful, distinctive voice of country megastar, Chris Stapleton. Pearce explained that the heartbroken song explores the strange, confusing territory of apathy that couples can reach, as they reluctantly inch towards the daunting precipice of heartbreak.
In a message shared across her socials, Pearce outlined, “This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we’ve all felt at some point in a relationship. The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you’re also indifferent. I’ve always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the “uncomfortable” moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share”.
In the same post, Carly Pearce emphasised her excitement at getting to join forces with her fellow Kentucky native, Chris Stapleton, on ‘We Don't Fight Anymore’, “Chris Stapleton, you made my dreams come true by lending your incredible talents to this song”.
Carly Pearce continues to earn a plethora of accolades for her acclaimed 2021 project, 29: Written in Stone, with one of the many highlights from the album, ‘What He Didn't Do’, having recently become Pearce's fourth No. 1 at Cuntry Radio.
Excitingly, ‘We Don't Fight Anymore’ marks the opening of a new chapter of music for Carly Pearce, with the ‘Next Girl’ singer-songwriter expected to announce her next record in the coming weeks.
