“Can't Believe I'm Saying This”: Gigi Perez Announces Debut Album, ‘At The Beach, In Every Life’

Gigi Perez has today (Monday, April 14th) surprised fans with the unveiling of her highly anticipated debut album, At The Beach, In Every Life, which will arrive on Friday, April 25th.

Excitingly, this means we don't have long to wait before we get to hear the folk prodigy's next body of work, which serves as the follow-up to 2023's How to Catch a Falling Knife. Although many viewed that as Perez's first album, due to At The Beach, In Every Life being released via a different label - Island - this is being billed as her debut.

The keenly awaited project is expected to include the New Jersey native's viral break-out smash, ‘Sailor Song’, which emerged as one of the biggest hits of the past year.

The ethereal, vibrant offering showcased Gigi Perez's penchant for enigmatic, probing lyricism and her distinctive, enchanting vocals, with Perez consolidating her status as one of the most exciting new voices in the folk space with a smattering of subsequent releases, including the spellbinding ‘Fable’ and ’Chemistry’.

Gigi Perez has accompanied the album announcement with a cinematic, black-and-white trailer, during which she touches on the loss of her sister, Celene, “I think there's something about the beach that's always been there. I spent a lot of time out there after Celene passed away. I think it was the closest I could get to escaping, and maybe feeling close to her - and after a while that changed and I wanted to go back. So I did, and I found that no matter how much I was grieving, or how far away I was from home, that love is going to meet me at the beach every time”.

Perez then teased fans with what appears to be a snippet of the title-track, ‘At The Beach, In Every Life’, which finds Gigi Perez crooning wistfully across a bright, rousing guitar riff.

In the caption, Perez gushed warmly, “Can’t believe I’m saying this, my debut album “At The Beach, In Every Life” is out April 25th”, adding tantalisingly, “See you by the water”.

While we don't think this means we'll be getting a full-blown sun-soaked, Kenny Chesnian and Jimmy Buffett-esque concept album from Gigi Perez, we are nonetheless looking forward to hearing how the fast-emerging artist delves into themes such as grief, religion and romance against the soothing backdrop of crashing waves.

Perez is currently in the middle of her hugely popular 2025 UK and European tour, with the ‘Fable’ singer-songwriter set to perform at London's KOKO on Thursday, April 17th.
