Powerhouse singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has announced the follow-up to her critically acclaimed and Grammy award-winning 2018 album By the Way, I Forgive You.

In These Silent Days arrives October 1 via Low Country Sound/Elektra Records. Carlile also shared the music video for the first single, 'Right On Time', which was directed by Courteney Cox.

The video follows Carlile after a live show. She leaves the stage in her silver sequined outfit and finds herself trapped in an invisible box.

If you're wondering how the former Friends star ended up working with Carlile, it started with a good ol' DM.

Cox posted a cover of Carlile's song 'The Joke' on Instagram. When Carlile saw it, she messaged the actress and the two started talking about a collaboration.

In These Silent Days was produced by Dave Cobb and Shooter Jennings, who worked with Carlile on By the Way, I Forgive You.

It features longtime friends, musical partners and twins Tim and Phil Hanseroth, as well as Chris Powell, Josh Neumann, and Lucius' Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig.

"Never before have the twins and I written an album during a time of such uncertainty and quiet solitude", Carlile said. "I never imagined that I’d feel so exposed and weird as an artist without the armor of a costume, the thrill of an applause and the platform of the sacred stage.

Despite all this, the songs flowed through — pure and unperformed, loud and proud, joyful and mournful. Written in my barn during a time of deep and personal reckoning".

Carlile called the album a celebration. "This album is what drama mixed with joy sounds like", she said. "It’s resistance and gratitude, righteous anger and radical forgiveness. It’s the sound of these silent days".

Earlier this year, Carlile released her first book, a memoir titled Broken Horses. It topped the New York Times Best Sellers list.
