Billy Strings Announces New Album, ‘Highway Prayers’, and Releases Lead Single, ‘Leadfoot’

Billy Strings has unveiled his brand new album, Highway Prayers, which is set to arrive on September 27. To celebrate the announcement, the bluegrass trailblazer has made the lead single from the project, ‘Leadfoot’, available everywhere immediately.
The track has been accompanied by an eccentric music video, which finds Billy Strings transforming into an otherworldly, woodland-inspired creature, who fumes about another animal's fast driving. He plots to tamper with ‘Leadfoot’s 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle - which is name-checked in the song and also, bizarrely, receives a credit. This seemingly implies Billy Strings ‘plays’ a part of the car on the track.
Highway Prayers pivots around an automobile-inspired theme, and may even be a concept album, with the project's artwork featuring a front-on portrayal of a classic green car.
It features tracks such as ‘Leanin’ on a Travelin’ Song’, ‘Malfunction Junction’, ‘Gone a Long Time’, ‘Seney Stretch’, ‘In The Clear’ and ‘Richard Petty’, named after the famous US racing driver.
Highway Prayers will also include ‘Cabin Song’, which was originally released as part of the star-studded soundtrack for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in 2023.
Our excitement ahead of the new project is already accelerating out of control, and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed the Michigan hitmaker decides to treat us to another single or two before the full Highway Prayers album drops on September 27.
Regardless, we can look forward to some new music from Billy Strings on August 16, with the ‘Dust in a Baggie’ singer-songwriter appearing on Post Malone's hotly anticipated debut country album, F-1Trillion, on a track titled, ‘M-E-X-I-C-O’.
