Two of the leading hitmakers of the past few years, combining on a track? Well, sign us up.

Shaboozey and SZA have been making waves in recent weeks, after the ‘Good News’ singer-songwriter shared what fans believe to be a clip of SZA in a recent Instagram post.

The rumours have been flying as to whether this means the duo are dating, but we're wondering if this potential link-up might instead be a hint that they're working on new music.

The flurry of speculation was sparked when Shaboozey included a clip of a woman running towards a China Way store, wearing a yellow and green outfit. A number of fans initially commented that this woman looked a lot like SZA, and these suspicions were seemingly backed up when SZA was spotted in a separate posing in front of the China Way shop in the same dress as the person in Shaboozey's post.

It's worth flagging that, since this torrent of rumours and conjecture, Shaboozey has removed this video from his IG carousel (the one captioned “Goodbye Horses”).

It's not the first time SZA has hinted at a potential foray into the country music world, with the ‘Snooze’ chart-topper sharing a slew of photos earlier this year of her in Western attire.

While SZA hails from the neo-R&B space, given the fact that Shaboozey nimbly flits between country, trap and R&B himself, we think a collaboration would sound electrifying.

SZA has a multitude of Hot 100 hits under her belt - most recently her blockbuster Kendrick Lamar collaboration, ‘Luther’, which surged to No. 1 in March - while Shaboozey possesses one of the biggest smashes of the 2020's in ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’.

We know Shaboozey is hard at work on his keenly anticipated follow-up to 2024's Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, which was given a deluxe extension this year, so we'd imagine that, if they are collaborating, this track would appear on Shaboozey's forthcoming record, rather than SZA's - but this remains to be seen.

Either way, with the chart-topping might and genre-blurring prowess these two have in their arsenal, fellow artists will be nervously keeping tabs on the prospect of a Shaboozey and SZA collaboration - because it's safe to say that, if this potential link-up does drop, it has a one-way-ticket to the pinnacle of the Billboard Hot 100...
