When actors go on-stage, it's tradition to say, ‘Break a leg!’ before they begin their performance. Unfortunately, it seems Thomas Rhett took this a little too literally when he made a surprise appearance during Forrest Frank's Nashville set this past weekend.
During the summery, spiritual hitmaker's packed-out Bridgestone Arena show, Forrest Frank began introducing his viral 2025 collaboration with Thomas Rhett, ‘NOTHING ELSE’.
The ‘UP!’ singer-songwriter playfully teased the crowd, “I can't sing Thomas Rhett's verse, right?” before asking, “Hey TR, where you at?” Hilariously, the spotlight then found Rhett sat in the audience to the right of the stage, drawing cheers from the arena.
However, as Thomas Rhett excitedly hurried down the steps towards the stage, he tripped and fell over, with security guards rushing over to him. He got up immediately, and stormed onto the stage for an energising rendition of the uplifting anthem.
It was clear, though, that Thomas Rhett was in pain, as he kept lifting his left foot up throughout the performance. You have to give credit to the ‘What Could Go Right’ crooner for powering through, despite having just broken his ankle moments before.
In a recap video posted to his socials, Thomas Rhett addresses the camera as he quips, “You know, every now and then, you just have to sing at a Forrest Frank concert and break your ankle in the process”, before joking, “I gave my all for Tennessee tonight”.
Amusingly, Thomas Rhett's wife, Lauren, can be seen pushing his wheelchair and struggling to control her laugher, with TR remarking, “You have no mercy at all. It's unbelievable”. Forrest Frank took to the comments, hailing Rhett as an “ABSOLUTE CHAMPION”.
Hopefully he'll enjoy a swift recovery, and even though he was injured, Thomas Rhett's joint performance with Forrest Frank was still spellbinding, with their infectious, joyful and faith-filled February release, ‘NOTHING ELSE’, one of the most enjoyable songs of the year so far. The earworm continues to spread rapidly across TikTok as Forrest Frank - one of the co-founders of the popular beach-pop duo, Surfaces - gears up for his highly anticipated CHILD OF GOD follow-up album.
