Abby Hamilton delivered a rousing performance during the second annual Whizzbang Revue, an unofficial Americanafest showcase at Nashville’s Vinyl Lab on Tuesday night (Sep 19).
The Lexington, Kentucky based artist - who was named one of Holler's 10 artists to watch in 2022 - performed several songs from her forthcoming debut album, #1 Zookeeper (of the San Diego Zoo), during the event.
This was led by the project’s two singles thus far, its introspective post-breakup title track and the rock’n 'Whatever Helps You Sleep', the latter of which has been released today.
Also included were two currently unreleased tracks from the record — 'Mayday' and 'Lucky' — along with fan favorites 'Big Time' and 'Change Things'.
A set closing rendition of 'The Flood' induced an epic jam with her bandmates, guitarist (and brother) Zachary Hamilton, bassist Carson Childers and drummer Zach Martin, capping off the high-flying show.
Hamilton’s set was followed by West Virginia-born and Nashville-based songwriter John R. Miller. Playing prior to them were fellow WhizzBangBAM Management artists Jeremy Short, William Matheny, Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle and Charlie Brown Superstar.
This is Hamilton’s second straight year appearing at the Revue, which was last held on May 4, 2022 at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. During that appearance, she was joined on the lineup by Joslyn & the Sweet Compression, William Matheny & The Strange Constellations, Brad Goodall, Of The Dell, and El Dorodo.
