Kentucky prodigy, Abby Hamilton, has revealed her debut album will be released on October 13, with the title-track - ‘#1 Zookeeper (of the San Diego Zoo)’ - having been made available immediately.
News of the project is being celebrated by Hamilton's quickly expanding fanbase, with the up-and-coming artist continuing to establish herself as one of the genre's stars of tomorrow.
#1 Zookeeper (of the San Diego Zoo) follows the release of Hamilton's acclaimed Afraid of the Dark (Live Sessions) EP in 2022, which showcased the prodigy's stellar vocals and intricate lyricism.
Speaking about the newly released song, Abby Hamilton outlined, “This is a poem that was written after a breakup. A conversation with myself where my brain took it to the furthest spiral. I bet you’ve moved on, so I bet she’s everything I am not. It comes to a head to realise I am a product of who I’ve come from”.
Hamilton went on to emphasise, “Generational cycles of undiagnosed mental illness and some questions to myself, ‘Will I be the one who breaks it? Or will I let it continue?’ A relationship between anthemic rock ballads meets the talk-sing of what I’ve learned and loved in country music for years. This is the thesis statement of the album”.
Listeners will be hoping Hamilton will share another single or two before the full record drops on October 13 via the newly founded Blue Gown Records imprint, which has been set up in partnership with Virgin Music.
