Everything you need to know about the energising 2026 track, taken from Steph Curry's GOAT movie.
Jelly Roll is starting to build a reputation as the go-to guy in Nashville for animated movie soundtracks. First we had the galvanising, EDM-infused ‘Run It’ from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 back in late 2024, and now, Jelly lends his voice to ‘I'm Good’, from the new animated GOAT movie. The song arrived on January, 23rd 2026, a few weeks ahead of the premiere of Steph Curry's basketball-themed film.
It finds Jelly celebrating a newfound sense of freedom and jubilance, after shaking off his old demons. Although ‘I'm Good’ was seemingly written intentionally for the plot of the GOAT movie, the narrative nonetheless feels pertinent for the ‘Need a Favor’ hitmaker himself, who has spoken about the happiness he feels after embarking on his fitness journey and strengthening his relationship with God.
‘I'm Good’ is a euphoric, straight-down-the-middle country-pop anthem, with Jelly's raspy, commanding vocals gliding seamlessly across an uptempo instrumental. The energy of this earworm is maintained through the combination of atmospheric keys, a driving drum pattern and the Nashville native's sincere delivery.
While you'll have to watch GOAT to find the exact context within which our protagonist realises that everything's going to be alright, ‘I'm Good’ carries a sense of celebration and redemption that will strike a chord with listeners regardless of whether they've seen the film or not. Jelly reflects on the struggles he's faced in his life, before toasting how he found the light at the end of the tunnel.
After outlining how he overcame the “temptation” that was haunting him and the various people that were trying to bring him down, Jelly expresses his immense gratitude for the privilege of being able to wake up with a deep-seated feeling of joy.
Our narrator admits that he wasted some time and threw a little too much sand carelessly out of the hourglass of his life - but hey, now's not the time to dwell on past mistakes. Rather, ‘I'm Good’ is all about being thankful for this moment we find ourselves in.
“Woo, come on
-
Oh, what a beautiful day
I'm just so glad I'm alive
I got this smile on my face
'Cause I opened up my eyes
I found my way out that place
I never thought that I would
See the day I could say
I'm good, I'm good
-
I'm good with that old temptation
All the people on the way that tried to break me
The time I lost, that I tossed out that hourglass
Right now, I ain't thinkin' 'bout none of that
Made amends with the friends that did me wrong
Let go of all the hurt I was holdin' on
Took the cards I was dealt and started playin' right
You found me in the dark and I found the light
-
Oh
I was fightin', chasin' all of my lows with the wrong highs
Oh
Now I'm singin' me a brand-new song and it goеs like
-
Oh, what a beautiful day
I'm just so glad I'm alive
I got this smilе on my face
'Cause I opened up my eyes
I found my way out that place
I never thought that I would
See the day I could say
I'm good, I'm good
-
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
I'm good, I'm good
-
I'm good with the path that I'm walkin' down
No way, no how I'ma turn around
See the good and the bad life handed me
The broken road that led me straight to my family
Made peace with the broken pieces
Finally made my way out the deep end
Some days, I still can't believe it
I'm still living, I'm still breathing
-
Oh
I been half-way gone, hanging on for my whole life
Oh
So now I'm singin' me a brand-new song and it goes like
-
Oh, what a beautiful day
I'm just so glad I'm alive
I got this smile on my face
'Cause I opened up my eyes (Opened up my eyes)
I found my way out that place
I never thought that I would
See the day I could say
I'm good, I'm good
-
Oh-oh (Oh)
Oh-oh
I'm good, I'm good
Oh-oh (Oh, I'm good)
Oh-oh
I'm good, I'm good”
