Up until the last few years, Hinterland Music Festival remained in relative obscurity. One of Iowa's premiere festival events, it drew a sizable crowd, yet remained more of a local treasure than an anticipated annual outing.
However, that all changed in 2023 as country megastar Zach Bryan descended onto the small town of Saint Charles, effectively putting the city and Hinterland Music Festival on the map.
Now, with the event's tenth anniversary on the horizon in 2025, the beloved, music-filled weekend is expected to make its return come August and will no doubt welcome some of the biggest names from country, Americana and both of their fringes.

Offering up multiple days of top-tier entertainment at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater, the 2024 edition of Hinterland Music Festival saw a fantastic trio of headliners as folk prodigy Noah Kahan, genre-blending entertainer Hozier and staple alt-pop band The Vampires anchored the bill.
Elsewhere across the three day festivities, attendees were be treated to performances from phenomenon Chappell Roan, Charley Crockett, The Red Clay Strays, Orville Peck, Lizzy McAlpine, Sam Barber, Josiah and the Bonnevilles, Mt. Joy and plenty of others.
First launched in 2015 by Des Moines-baed concert promoter Sam Summers, Hinterland Music Festival offers a weekend of one-of-a-kind live music, camping, craft vendors and more.
Drawing upwards of 15,000 people each year, Hinterland has seen a wide range of superstars take the stage, including Brandi Carilie and Old Crow Medicine Show – who headlined the inaugural year – as well as Zach Bryan, Bon Iver, Maggie Rogers, Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tyler Childers, The Avett Brothers, Billy Strings, Phoebe Bridgers and a long list of others.
