After revealing a series of logistical issues had put FloydFest 2023 in jeopardy, the organisers have now confirmed this year's instalment of the beloved festival has been cancelled.
In a lengthy, emotional message shared across the festival's socials, the team behind FloydFest outlined why it simply wouldn't be possible to go ahead with the 2023 event.
They wrote, “To ensure that our beloved patrons receive the best FloydFest experience possible, and to protect the FloydFest vibe that means so much to so many, we have made the difficult decision to cancel FloydFest 2023, after a review and thorough vetting of multiple alternative options”.
The organisers then took on a bullish tone, as they underlined that fans could definitely expect the 2024 occasion to go ahead, “Make zero mistake — FloydFest is not going anywhere. We hope to see each of you, our FloydFest Family, in July 2024, as we christen your new home, FestivalPark. The outpouring of love, understanding and support we received last week following our initial announcement was extraordinary, and we will never forget it. We love our #FloydFestFamily so very much”.
With many hopeful attendees feeling left in limbo after last week's news, this latest announcement explains in more detail that there are two main options for 2023 ticket-holders.
They can either request a refund, or they can choose to keep their tickets, which will roll over to FloydFest 2024. Those opting for the latter will be automatically entered into a free ballot, with the potential prize of a ticket upgrade or merchandise.
The announcement emphasised that ticket-holders seeking a refund must contact the FloydFest 2023 team by May 5, otherwise their tickets will be rolled over to next year.
It's undoubtedly disappointing news for all those that had been looking forward to seeing a star-studded line-up of artists performing at FloydFest 2023, and Virginia's loyal country music fanbase will now be casting their gaze excitedly towards the 2024 instalment.
