A brand new music festival is hitting the sands of Riviera Cancún, Mexico in the new year. Taking shape as Dead Ahead Festival 2024, the new, themed event paying tribute to the Grateful Dead will run from January 12-15 at Moon Palace Resort.
The inaugural installment of Dead Ahead Festival will include two nights of collaborations with icons Bobby Weir, Mickey Hart, Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge, Don Was & Jay Lane featuring Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Rick Mitarotonda, Margo Price and a very special performance from Sturgill Simpson.
During these nights, attendees will be taken through some of Grateful Dead's biggest and most beloved hits as they're covered and given a special treatment by some of the best in music.
There will be additional sets for the four-day event from Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros ft. The Wolfpack, Mickey Hart's Noche De Ondas, Orebolo, LP Giobbi, Sierra Hull, Brittney Spencer, Jaime Wyatt and a celebration of Jerry Garcia Band with sets by Oteil & Friends and Lettuce.

Organized by Playa Luna, Dead Ahead Festival 2024 aims to celebrate the lasting legacy of Grateful Dead as a winter escape to Mexico. Play Luna previously hosted Playing In The Sand, another Dead & Company experience, at Moon Palace in January 2023.
Dead Ahead Festival will be an all-inclusive experience with several packages available at varying hotels.
Pre-sale for packages, which include tickets and hotel accommodations, will be available on September 14 for previous Playa Luna guests. General on-sale will follow on September 15.
