Up north of the Alabama pines, a new firecracker has been setting fire to everything in his path. Reid Haughton, the spiritual son of Bocephus and 

 era Stones, has fuelled our 2024 with his distinct brand of country-inflected rock n roll.

This year, Haughton released his debut album 

, a rip-roaring combination of 70s southern rock and Alabama soul that coalesced everything he'd made up until that point into a mature and highly satisfying whole.

It's from the record that Haughton delves for his first Holler Nashville Session, offering some slick, soulful takes of three of our absolute highlights from the album.

It's always a pleasure to hear a band or artist strip back their sound, revealing something previously unearthed from deep within their soul. With Haughton, that lies both in the creative playfulness of his guitar playing and the effortless catchiness of the songs themselves.

Where 'Man Made Money' revels in the dirt and smoke it leaves in its wake on record, during the session, it sits back and revels in its coolness - sipping on hard liquor and spitting out tobacco in it's Chief-esque sharpness. Haughton's vocal reaches even more pleasing heights live, and here, within the intimacy of an acoustic session, it thrives.

'Mendoza Line' rings with buoyant clarity, picking up the pace as Haughton hits the road and doesn't look back. This version is a breezy road song just ripe for sunset, willing you to chuck your cares away and hit the road no matter how much it costs you.

Closing out with the album's final track, 'The Crow' fits perfectly into the solitude of the live session. What starts out as a fiery diatribe at other people's judgement and expectation, it subtly develops into a existential and thought-provoking song about contentment and aspirations, with a thorough-line of desire weaved into its very core.

An all encompassing session, Reid Haughton proves why he's one of the finest new songwriters in country, rock and soul.

When it comes to the countless figures in modern country music, few can marry humor and heartfelt lyrics like Hannah Dasher. One of the most intriguing artists to surface in recent years, Dasher has made quite the name for herself on TikTok and beyond as she cooks up killer recipes and bonafide hits in equal measure.

With over 1.5 million followers on the platform alone, the larger-than-life entertainer dished out her debut record, 

, in late 2023, demonstrating her smart as a whip pen and clever turns of phrase that stack up with the best of them.

Making her way to the Holler Nashville Sessions Presented by George Dickel, the singer-songwriter, donning a stunningly patriotic red, white and blue fit, kicked things off with the tongue-in-cheek 'Crying All The Way To The Bank'. Finding the joy in heartbreak as she catches her betrothed with another woman, Dasher cashes in her half of the assets and finds that maybe you can take "

Maintaining her spitfire sass, she prefaced her next Holler session by noting: "Here's the classiest song I've ever written," promptly going on to sing the first line of her hell raising, bar brawler, 'Redneck Ass'.

I'm gonna whoop your redneck ass, take you out like a piece of white trash

," she croons into the microphone, eliciting quiet chuckles from everyone in the room as she sings about her bone to pick with a "nasty" girl who was trying to sidle on up to her man. A perfect example of her comedic ability when it comes to her craft, the song also provided a perfect canvas for Dasher to show off some impressive picking skills while also packing quite the lyrical punch.

While undoubtedly not lacking in personality, Dasher is also equally abounding in depth, as shown on her final tune, 'Ugly Houses'. Often requested at her live shows, for obvious reasons, the seasoned tunesmith treated C2C audiences to the song earlier this year in March. The Nashville edition is just as spellbinding, as she compares herself to an ugly house for sale, inviting the Lord to come in and make a home within her soul.

To witness Hannah Dasher is like taking a spin on a crazy country rollercoaster. There will be some ups, probably some downs and maybe a loop-de-loop or two, but no matter what, you're guaranteed to enjoy the ride.

Zach Top - 'I Never Lie' | Holler Nashville Sessions Presented by George Dickel

Unless you've been living under a rock these past six months, you'll be aware of a certain new young buck on the block called Mr Zach Top.

Regularly christened the country artist's artist, Top has quickly established himself as not only a whip-smart and precocious songwriter but a born entertainer, taking crowds by the bootstraps and dancing them around the jukebox in every honky tonk he graces.

So, when it came to launching the Holler Nashville Sessions Presented by George Dickel, we couldn't think of many more suitable to invite than the neo-traditional prince of country from Washington state.

"We'll start with one of my favourites off the record I just released a couple of months ago" Top notions, opening up his first Holler session with his viral hit, 

 "It's kinda sad, but pretty much mostly sarcastic the whole way through. I think that is indicative of my personality too".

It's certainly an evocative expression of not only Top's character, but his songwriting that we've grown to love since he first arrived on the scene. Heartfelt and aspirational yet still grounded and playful in tone, Top layers his jaunty, hook-filled country sound with the clever narrative wordplay of Whitley and Strait, introducing a brand new audience to a style of the genre that can never age.

It's a treat to hear such a bop like 'Sounds Like The Radio' in an acoustic setting. The song loses none of its mischief from being stripped back, Top ripping across his acoustic with bluesy licks as he croons like it's 1994 all over again.

Closing out with album favourite 'Dirt Turns To Gold', the song is a fine example of Top's storytelling ability, the emotional turn as he sings "She said I could get used to this light" enough to bring you to tears of joy.

There aren't many better out there right now than our favourite mustachio'd balladeer, and from the evidence of his Holler Nashville Session, he's gonna be hard to Top.

Sonic escapism comes in many shapes and forms. Whether you're looking to disappear off into the sunset of a classic cowboy ballad, jet away to the tropical, sandy beaches of a laid-back, Gulf and Western jam or lose yourself in the simpler, rose-tinted times of a retro anthem, we all need a break from reality from time to time. 

Will Worden and his swaggering three-piece band offer up an irresistible example of the latter, with the fast-emerging artist's Holler Dreamy Draw Session capturing the alluringly sepia-tinged ambience Worden constructs throughout his music. 

The slightly distorted shadows cast by the ethereal lighting, coupled with the 70s-inspired furniture and attire, the setting accentuates the otherworldly feel of the set. 

Launching into one of his only two released songs, ‘Moonlit’, the sauntering bass coalesces with Will Worden's rugged, charismatic vocals to produce a bluesy toe-tapper.

While the deliberate, slow-burning ‘Moonlit’ leaves the instrumentation room to breathe, ‘One Foot Out the Door’ showcases a completely different side to Worden's artistry. His commanding delivery floats jauntily across the lively, uptempo accompaniment, with each band-member lacing a sense of joviality into every note. 

Boasting an impressive array of session credits that includes Lana Del Rey's ‘Candy Necklace’, underpinning each track is a deep-seated appreciation for the subtle flourishes and virtuoso displays that set his wonderfully old-timey sound apart. 

Will Worden's session, recorded during his time at Dreamy Draw Festival in Scottsdale, Arizona, will undoubtedly whet fans’ appetites ahead of his upcoming debut record, with the Texan expected to drop the hotly anticipated project later this year.
