But now it seems that McCollum is firmly locked into album mode - and that, quite literally, will be music to his fans' ears.
Today, McCollum shared a snippet of a brand new track, entitled, ‘Lessons From An Old Man’.
The reflective, philosophical song seems to run in a similar vein to Riley Green's ‘Behind The Times’, where a younger protagonist receives eye-opening advice from an older relative.
The clip starts off with McCollum painting a brief picture of the elderly man, with the Texas singer-songwriter crooning deliberately over a delicate piano (“A big high-crown hat and a beat-up old Dodge”).
He warmly recalls how the man was never far from a trail of cigar smoke, and that, before sharing his wisdom, “He leaned on well back and took one more puff/He said, ‘I don't know it all, boy, but I know enough’”.
I guess we'll have to wait and see exactly which ‘Lessons From An Old Man’ McCollum learns in the song.
But even so, the short teaser will certainly be enough to pique fans' interest and ramp up the anticipation ahead of the ‘Pretty Heart’ star's new album.
Parker McCollum recently released ‘Stoned’, an alluringly introspective ballad, which served as the follow-up to August's ‘Handle On You’.
Both are expected to feature on his next project, which will hopefully be made available in early 2023.
