The first half of Yellowstone Season 5 came to a volatile and dramatic conclusion in January 2023, with the show's producers promising that the second half would be arriving later in the year.
Originally slated for a summer 2023 release, the second eight episodes of Season 5 were delayed as a result of the ongoing screenwriters strike. The official premiere date for the new season has now been confirmed as November 10, 2024.
Here, we'll have all the up-to-date news and latest soundtrack from each episode of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.
Fans are hoping Lainey Wilson, who plays on-screen musician and Ryan's love interest, Abby, will make a return for the forthcoming season. However, Lainey revealed in a recent People interview that even she is unaware as to where things currently stand.
Lainey joked that she is still waiting to find out Abby's fate from Yellowstone's creator, “I have realized that the TV world is even crazier than the music world. I'm like, ‘Taylor Sheridan, you gotta let me know what's going on, bro’. I'm excited to see what happens. There’s no doubt the rest of Season 5 is gonna be money”.
Unfortunately, after months of bad blood and disputes, Kevin Costner confirmed via his Instagram page shortly after the Season 5, Part 2 premiere date was announced that he would not be returning to the much-loved show, due to his commitments with Horizon, a film he's allegedly poured $38 million of his own money into.
The celebrated drama follows the Dutton family's attempts to keep hold of their sprawling, all-encompassing ranch in Montana, amidst a variety of challenges and attacks from their (surprisingly plentiful) group of enemies. Kevin Costner's lead character, John Dutton, began Season 5 by being sworn in as the reluctant new Governor of Montana, while Rip and Beth's endearing love-story continued to blossom.
We won't spoil the first half of Season 5 in case you're still catching up - but it's safe to say the producers left viewers balanced on a certified cliff-hanger by the end of the eighth episode.
As well as being renowned for its riveting plot-lines, spectacular setting and multi-dimensional characters, Yellowstone is also championed for its alt-country, red dirt and Americana soundtrack.
So far, the show's music supervisor, Andrea von Foerster, has helped to introduce the world to the likes of Zach Bryan, Whiskey Myers, Colter Wall, Shane Smith & The Saints and more.
Season 5 Part 1 featured songs such as Zach Bryan's ‘The Good I'll Do’ and Lainey Wilson's ‘Smell Like Smoke’, as well as including on-screen appearances from both artists.
Part 2 will presumably feature some new music from Luke Grimes, who plays fan-favourite character, Kayce Dutton. Grimes continues to release a flurry of singles ahead of his debut country album, which is expected to be made available later in the year.
