Although having only just released his second project in the space of just six months, his widely celebrated Worst Way EP, in an April 2024 interview with Holler, Riley Green excitingly confirmed he's already recording his next studio album.
The Alabama singer-songwriter revealed he's currently aiming to release his hotly anticipated Ain't My Last Rodeo follow-up in the Fall of 2024, “We're recording the next album, looking at a potential Fall release. There's a lot of new music coming this year. It's a cool time to be out on the road and try some of these new songs. The music comes first. If I write a song I'm excited about or that fans are excited about, I'm gonna record it and try to get it out as soon as I can”.
Riley Green possesses an unrivalled arsenal of unreleased fan-favourites, and sometimes he makes listeners wait a good few years - long enough to resign themselves to the song never seeing the light of day - before surprising fans by dropping the track, as he did with the much-loved ‘They Don't Make ‘Em Like That No More’.
As a result, fans will be holding out hope that previously teased demos such as ‘Taillights’, ‘Til You Gave One’, ‘Keep Comin’ Around’ and ‘I'd Rather Be’ make their way onto the new album's tracklist. Thankfully, during his conversation with Holler, the ‘Different ‘Round Here’ hitmaker offered listeners reason to feel optimistic about the inclusion of some older unreleased tracks on the forthcoming record.
Riley Green explained that when he's finishing writing a few more tracks for the new project, he'll revisit some of the teasers and snippets he shared on social media in the past, “We've been in the studio and cut about four songs, so we've got a lot of room on the album for what's next. But I think once we start getting close to six, seven or eight songs, and we look at what the album's missing and what those pieces are, I think that's when we'll go back through the catalogue and find those songs that raised their hands through me playing them on socials for fans”.
With a number of stand-outs from Riley Green's latest release, Worst Way, already racking up the streams and surging onto Spotify's Viral Top 50 chart, it seems he won't have any choice but to also include hits such as the beautifully intricate ‘Jesus Saves’ and the sultry, simmering ‘Worst Way’ on his album later this year.
