Charles Wesley Godwin has paid tribute to one of his soon-to-be tour-mates, Trampled By Turtles, by sharing a new cover of the popular folk band's classic track, ‘Whiskey’.

The introspective ballad features on Trampled By Turtles’ pioneering 2004 debut album, Songs from a Ghost Town, which also spawned fan-favourites such as ‘Ain't No Use in Tryin’, ‘My Brother Works for the CIA’ and ‘The Outskirts’.

Both Wesley Godwin and Trampled By Turtles are due to support Zach Bryan on the US leg of his 2023 Burn, Burn, Burn tour. In addition, Wesley Godwin will be opening for Trampled By Turtles in mid-September at the Back Waters Stage in Dubuque, Iowa.

As we've come to expect, Charles Wesley Godwin's latest cover finds the West Virginia native lacing an extra layer of gravity into the despairing lyrics, as the song's protagonist seeks the help of an old friend to ease his lingering anguish (“Whiskey, won't you come and take my troubles / ‘Cause I can't seem to do it on my own”).

Charles Wesley Godwin is currently out on the road as part of his 2023 run of shows. The How The Mighty Fall hitmaker set to return to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on May 9, in support of Shane Smith & The Saints, before continuing his tour across the US.

Red Rocks is where Wesley Godwin made his eye-catching guest appearance on Zach Bryan's 2022 Christmas Day live album, All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster - Live from Red Rocks.

Wesley Godwin's burgeoning army of fans are hoping he's gearing up to drop new music, following the release of his much-loved Live from The Church EP in February, which featured an array of impressive covers, including a special rendition of Zach Bryan's ‘Crooked Teeth’.
