Zach Top and Billy Strings are set to drop a new three-song project, Me & Billy (Live), on February 28th, 2025, with Spotify seemingly leaking the album artwork and release date. The title appears to be a nod to Strings’ 2022 record, Me / And / Dad.
Despite there being no official announcement from either artist yet, the project has appeared on Spotify, with the release date listed as February 28th and the tracklist three songs long.
Given the fact that Zach Top and Billy Strings dropped a three-song Apple Music Nashville Sessions live EP exclusively on Apple Music back in November, we suspect Me & Billy (Live) may just be this same trio of tracks, but having a wide release for the first time.
On that EP, Zach Top and Billy Strings joined forces to perform Top's ‘Bad Luck’ and ‘Things to Do’, as well as covering Ricky Skaggs’ bluegrass hit, ‘Don't Cheat in Our Hometown’.
The two artists have been good buddies for a while now, with Billy Strings emerging during Zach Top's show at Denver's Grizzly Rose nightclub last month for a surprise link-up.
Given their longstanding friendship, it's possible Zach Top and Billy Strings have taken the time out to record three new tracks, particularly as Apple Music usually seem to be quite protective over the rights to their Apple Music Nashville Sessions recordings.
We'll have to wait and see what the three tracks on Me & Billy (Live) are, but bearing in mind Billy Strings’ status as one of the leading figures in contemporary bluegrass and Zach Top's grounding in bluegrass - with his debut self-titled project being a love letter to the sub-genre - we're sure this will be another another stellar, seamless collaboration between the two trailblazing artists.
