After teasing earlier in the week that he'd be re-releasing ‘Memphis; The Blues’ very soon, Zach Bryan has kept his word and dropped the new version of the track featuring J.R. Carroll.
Zach Bryan confirmed last month that he would be removing John Moreland from the song, after Moreland levelled criticism at Bryan and branded him the “off-brand version of me”. Drayon Farley, who has previously opened for the ‘Revival’ singer-songwriter then weighed in and backed up Moreland's portrayal of Bryan.
The ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker swiftly took to Instagram to express his bemusement at Moreland's comments, and revealed he'd be cutting him from ‘Memphis; The Blues’, which appeared on Bryan's 2024 album, The Great American Bar Scene.
Now, after a month of not being able to stream ‘Memphis; The Blues’, Zach Bryan has re-released the much-loved track alongside his good friend and bandmate, J.R. Carroll.
Endearingly, before its arrival, Carroll confessed his sense of trepidation for fans to hear the song, “Cats out of the bag I am so nervous pls don't be mean to me I tried my best”.
In a post today (Wednesday, June 11th) unveiling the revamped version of ‘Memphis; The Blues’, Zach Bryan has gushed, “Memphis; The Blues is back out with @jrvcarroll...Promise is a promise. Honored to have done this with one of my best friends in the world. Catch us belting this in Europe and across the states all summer”. The ‘I Remember Everything’ crooner concluded by reiterating his gratitude to Carroll for jumping on the track, “Thank you brother and we love u guys”.
It's exciting to hear that Bryan will be including ‘Memphis; The Blues’ in his setlist for his forthcoming European run of shows, with the country-folk titan due to perform a trio of dates at Dublin's Phoenix Park and a double-header at London's BST Hyde Park.
