During his Grand Ole Opry performance on Tuesday night (July 29), Wyatt Flores brought out his ol' friend and co-writer, Isaac Gibson of 49 Winchester, to sing '3/13' for the first time together.
3/13 was released in November 2023 on Flores’ debut album, ‘Life Lessons’ and was written with Gibson as part of the backstory to another of Flores’ tracks, ‘Ain’t Proud’. It’s a song heavy in its message - as is many a Wyatt Flores song - as he delves into a story about driving under the influence.
However emotional the narrative of the song was, it didn’t stop Flores from beaming ear to ear as he finally delivered that debut live performance with his friend. A juxtaposition to the lyrics, the pair’s enjoyment was palpable and they ate up every last second.
Having the two of them pour their passion for music into a song that is so profound feels like such a special moment to have been part of. It’s got us wondering - will it be something they explore more on their tour together later this year?
Flores and 49 Winchester were both on the Grand Ole Opry lineup last night (29th July) as part of the Opry 100 series - a year full of ‘bigger shows, bolder moments, huge stars, and surprise guests’ to celebrate 100 years of the home of country music.
The pair will return to the Grand Ole Opry on 27th September before Flores joins 49 Winchester on their ‘Welcome to the Holler Europe and UK Tour’ later this October.
