After teasing it across her socials yesterday (Tuesday, October 29th), Megan Moroney has now released the official music video for her current US Country Radio single, ‘Am I Okay?’ The visuals are directed by both Moroney and Alexandra Gavillet.
‘Am I Okay?’ currently sits inside the Top 40 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart, with the fun, uptempo ode to a blossoming romance serving as the title-track from Moroney's 2024 album.
The newly shared visuals for ‘Am I Okay?’ capture the levity and playfulness that Megan Moroney laces into the lyrics, with the video following the Georgia native as she spends time with an array of potential suitors from a variety of starkly different backgrounds.
We get the finance bro, the football quarterback, the movie-star and more, with the ‘Tennessee Orange’ hitmaker poking fun at the media interest that has always surrounded Moroney's dating life. Endearingly, when all three of these mess up the relationship, the ‘Indifferent’ singer-songwriter ends up opting for the taxi-driver from the scenes with the movie-star, with the duo running across a field towards a blue door, signifying the excitement and uncertainty of this new beginning.
The inclusion of the ‘finance bro’ seemingly nods towards the thinly veiled easter egg in Megan Moroney's lyric video for ‘Indifferent’, which features an assortment of letters starkly highlighted in blue. These combine to create the phrase ‘BYE FINANCE BRO’.
In the lead-up to the release of her deluxe album, Am I Okay? (I'll Be Fine), Megan Moroney revealed that ‘Am I Okay?’ was penned about a boyfriend at the time, before sharing that they broke up the day before she was due to lay down the vocals on this track.
This challenging experience, however, gave rise to the quietly hopeful ‘I'll Be Fine’, with Moroney explaining how that offering came about via her socials, “The 6"2 dream and I broke up the day before I sang vocals for the [‘Am I Okay?’]. I remember being in the studio, holding back tears, thinking, ‘How am I gonna sing this every night? Should I just trash this song and rename the album?” I knew everything was gonna be fine but I needed to talk myself into it and that's what this song is”.
The new music video for ‘Am I Okay?’ will add an extra boost to the momentum behind the infectious track, which has established itself as one of the many stand-outs from the album.
