We got to witness one of our favourite country music friendships last night (Friday, September 12th), when Megan Moroney surprised her Charleston, South Carolina crowd with a special performance of ‘You Had To Be There’ with Kenny Chesney.
The duo have been good buddies ever since they joined forces on Chesney's 2024 Sun Goes Down stadium tour, with Moroney heartwarmingly penning ‘You Had To Be There’ as a Christmas present for the ‘No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems’ hitmaker.
Given the fact that Chesney brought her out on this run of stadium shows last summer, it felt apt that Moroney invited him to join her at her first headline stadium concert.
Their warm friendship radiated throughout the set, with the crowd erupting into a sea of cheers and screams when Moroney welcomed Chesney to the Credit One Stadium stage.
Elsewhere during Moroney's rip-roaring, hit-filled set, the Georgia native treated the packed-out audience to a powerful rendition of a brand new unreleased song.
The fast-emerging artist continues to tease her eagerly anticipated third studio album, which is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, and is believed to feature ‘You Had To Be There’, as well as the infectious, post-break-up anthem, ‘6 Months Later’.
With Megan Moroney and Kenny Chesney performing the live debut of ‘You Had To Be There’ during the latter's blockbuster Sphere Las Vegas residency this year, we're hoping we'll get to see this much-loved duo reunite when Chesney returns to the immersive, groundbreaking venue for his second spell there next summer.
