Closing out her Kelsea Ballerini Live Tour, sharing a poignant moment with her entire crew and inviting her audience to join in the celebrations, Kelsea Ballerini covered Garth Brooks’ classic, ‘Friends in Low Places’ and proved why she is the people’s princess of country music.
Ballerini has been filling us with love and pride as she’s shared so much of herself and given everything she can to her fans on this tour – quite literally giving someone the boots off her feet.
On her final night at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ballerini cemented the fond memories of this tour by inviting all of her crew and band-members on stage to share in the final number, a cover of Garth Brooks’ iconic 1990 hit, ‘Friends In Low Places’.
However, in true Ballerini relatable style, as she bounced and twirled and sang the infamous line, “I’ve got friends in low places,” she completely and utterly stacked it.
Through no fault of her own, Ballerini lost her footing as the podium that she was moving along started to rise from the stage. Mid-twirl and full energy, Ballerini backed further along the line of her team, but fell fowl to basic physics and, well, ended up on the floor.
The gasp from both crowd and crew was palpable but the ‘Penthouse’ singer didn’t leave anybody waiting even a beat to see if she was okay. Ballerini is nothing but a professional, and finished with a straight leg and hand flip, she styled it out instantly and graciously.
Falling on stage feels like a rite of passage, especially in the country music scene. Ballerini now sits with country music icons like Morgan Wallen, Parker McCollum and best friend Carly Pearce who have all crashed to the ground on stage.
Giggling away, Kelsea Ballerini recovered immediately and was back on her feet for more twirling, bouncing, microphone-sharing and memory-making. Everyone on-stage and off stage was joining in with the joyous finale, which was pervaded by a sense of pride at what the team had accomplished, as well as being tinged by a slight sadness in the knowledge that this was Ballerini's final tour-stop...for now.
