A powerful shared experience.

Warren Zeiders has taken to social media to reveal that, over the weekend, he got baptized alongside his sister. The ‘You For a Reason’ hitmaker has emphasised to fans just how meaningful this moment was, and how it served as the latest step in his faith journey over the past year or so as he grows closer to God.

Zeiders has accompanied the heartfelt message with a series of photos from the baptism, with both the ‘Relapse’ singer-songwriter and his sister visibly moved in each one.

Zeiders has mused, “Today my sister and I got baptized...I’m so excited to share with y’all that I took the step today to outwardly share with the world that Jesus is my lord and savior. I’ve been raised in the church since I was a child, but God was doing some real work in my heart this year as a 26 yr old and I knew I wanted to get baptized”, before stressing, “It was such an emotional moment to share with my friends and family and especially to share it with my little sister”.

He went on to outline how this has capped off an especially touching week for the fast-emerging country artist, with Zeiders performing to a sold-out crowd of thousands in his beloved hometown of Hershey, Pennsylvania shortly before getting baptized.

Zeiders has expressed his immense gratitude, as well as sharing why he has made the decision to consolidate his faith in this way, “It’s been an emotional 24 hrs between selling out my hometown arena in front of 8,000+ of y’all and then to be baptized. At every turn God has been walking with me every step of the way. I hope someone sees this post and I can inspire someone else to accept God into their heart and follow His word. Lord knows we aren’t perfect and we never will be and we’ll always stumble and fall, but it’s up to us to let God help us back up. I love you y’all so much and thank you for an unforgettable weekend!”

Zeiders has always had an endearingly strong bond with his sister, with the ‘Pretty Little Poison’ crooner uploading a clip last Christmas of him surprising her with the news that, as a deeply generous present, he had paid off all of her student loans.

Zeiders has been open about his faith throughout his career, but he has been increasingly drawing on his spirituality as a muse for his music. In September, Zeiders released ‘Only Bible’, before dropping his take on ‘How Great Thou Art’ a month later.

Of course, Zeiders’ decision to get baptized is part of his personal walk with God and Jesus. But even so, it does serve as another example of the broader fusion of country and Christian, with a host of Contemporary Christian Music artists such as Brandon Lake, Forrest Franke, Josiah Queen and Anne Wilson venturing into the country music world, while a range of country artists also help bridge the gap.

It remains to be seen whether Zeiders is planning to release a Gospel project next year, but with his raspy, charismatic vocals and his ear for a stadium-sized, sing-a-long hook, coupled with the stirring, energising spirit that underpins much of CCM, there's no question this would be a powerhouse combination.
