After hinting at a potential tour unveiling with a photo from rehearsals earlier in the month, Kenny Chesney has stoked the flames of anticipation again by confirming he'll be a guest on the TODAY Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday.
Adding to the intrigue is the fact that the ‘No Shoes Nation’ icon will not be performing on either, rather, Kenny Chesney will be explaining what he has planned for 2025.
In the lead-up to the high-profile double-header of appearances, Kenny Chesney has teased, “I have always been one to let the music do the talking, I think when we’re onstage, connecting with No Shoes Nation, nothing else really needs to be said. When they sing these songs back to me, that says everything”.
Chesney has expanded, “That said, this year is going to be unlike any other. This is one time when I probably do need to get out and explain exactly what we’re up to”.
Although we don't have any details just yet, Kenny Chesney has underlined just how excited he is for the Thursday, January 16th reveal, “But for now, I can say this: I am incredibly ramped up about what we’re in the middle of making happen for 2025. It’s one of those things where you can’t just throw it out there – so I am really glad we’re getting to spend some time at ‘TODAY,’ then ‘The Tonight Show’”.
Judging by the way in which the ‘Young’ megastar's national TV appearances have been billed, it seems Kenny Chesney's announcement is tour-related in some shape or form. Chesney has made a habit of going out on the road virtually every summer to toast the free-spirited and joi-de-vivre-filled lifestyle that his No Shoes Nation fanbase champion, with followers starting to grow a little concerned that the Tennessee hitmaker hadn't shared his touring plans for 2025 before Christmas.
Now, however, the picture is starting to become a little clearer, with Kenny Chesney having something a little different up his sleeve. Perhaps we're about to get a third live album, which would serve as the follow-up to Chesney's celebrated previous projects, 2006's Live Those Songs Again and 2017's Live in No Shoes Nation.
Elsewhere in his statement, Kenny Chesney has stressed how much he appreciates the impact his energising, uplifting discography continues to have on listeners, “The thing about so many of my songs is they’re pieces of people’s lives. Almost everyone can see themselves in there somehow. To me, singing people’s reality and hopefully showing them how sweet life can be sets a pretty cool bar”.
Chesney has concluded with another apparent hint that we're about to get an announcement relating to live shows, suggesting he's been working on a new setlist, “There’s nothing like No Shoes Nation when they come together. It’s the greatest high there is. We’ve been pulling songs out that we’ve not played in years, so who knows?”
If there is a summer tour on the horizon, we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that Kenny Chesney intends to include a few additional highlights from his 2024 studio album, BORN, in his set, with the project drawing widespread plaudits upon its release.
No Shoes Nation is already gearing up for the incoming concert season, with Kenny Chesney's official radio show, No Shoes Radio, hosting a special party on Nashville's SkyDeck on Broadway on Friday, January 17th, the day after Chesney's big reveal.
We'll be waiting with bated breath ahead of Chesney's Thursday appearances on the TODAY Show at 8am and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that same evening.
Whether it's a tour or a live album - or whether our tireless manifesting has come to fruition, and Chesney is about to embark on an international run of shows - either way, one thing is for sure: it's about to be a momentous year for No Shoes Nation.
