Zach Bryan has offered fans an update on when they can expect new music, with the Oklahoma native sharing a photo to Instagram of him seemingly recording in New York.
Via his Instagram Stories, the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper has uploaded a snapshot of him performing alongside some of his favourite collaborators, including Grumpy (aka Heaven Schmitt), who delivered backing vocals on Zach Bryan's two November 2024 singles, ‘This World's A Giant’ and ‘High Road’.
In addition, Hannah Cohen, who has played violin on a slew of Zach Bryan's previous tracks, can be seen in the background, as can Jake Weinberg, Gabe Wax, Monsune, Ana Monwah Lei and Chris Deyo Braun. The fact that Bryan is recording in New York - and that many of the musicians featured in his post hail from the Big Apple - suggests his next record will be permeated by themes and tales from NYC.
The ‘Something in the Orange’ singer-songwriter has used New York as his muse in the past, with Bryan painting a vibrant picture of the city on a number of tracks over the years.
Excitingly, Zach Bryan has accompanied this Instagram Story with the caption, “spent all day laughing & recording with my best pals in the city. life feels too good as of late”.
It's not yet clear whether Zach Bryan is currently working on his recently teased With Heaven On Top EP or his The Great American Bar Scene follow-up album, which is thought to be titled ‘Motorbreath’. In early February, Bryan tantalisingly confirmed With Heaven On Top would be dropping “sooner than not”, with his two November tracks expected to be the lead singles from the eagerly awaited project.
His album, meanwhile, is believed to have been recorded during a two-week motorcycle ride across America. Zach Bryan shared a Matthew McConaughey-voiced introduction to an accompanying documentary, Motorbreath, about the creation of his “final major label album”. Fans are assuming the record goes by the same name.
In his new Instagram Story, Zach Bryan also endearingly gushed about his collaborators, “I love u guys so much it hurts”, before putting out an amusing last-minute call for some additional help, “need a quartet if anyone's available today in one hour”.
The involvement of Hannah Cohen, cellist Ana Monwah Lei and a potential quartet implies Bryan's next chapter will explore a more orchestral sound compared to the sparseness of The Great American Bar Scene and his 2024 self-titled studio album.
Earlier this morning (Monday, April 7th), Zach Bryan teased a brand new unreleased track, seemingly titled, ‘God Ain't a Man in a Two-Piece Suit’, with the anticipation continuing to build ahead of the ‘Pink Skies’ crooner's With Heaven On Top EP.
We suspect Zach Bryan might be planning to release new music - perhaps With Heaven On Top - ahead of his blockbuster Stagecoach 2025 set later this month. Watch this space.
