Sierra Ferrell held onto her title as Americana Artist of the Year at last night's Americana Honors & Awards ceremony, making it a second-straight win for the ‘Fox Hunt’ hitmaker.
Elsewhere during the spectacular evening at Nashville's legendary Ryman Auditorium, which was hosted by Step Brothers star John C. Reilly, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats received the coveted Album of the Year gong for South of Here.
Gillian Welch & David Rawlings were crowned Duo/Group of the Year, while esteemed up-and-comer, MJ Lenderman, was honoured with the Emerging Act of the Year award.
I'm With Her - comprising Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan and Sara Watkins - scored the Song of the Year accolade for their beautifully hopeful, optimistic anthem, ‘Ancient Light’.
Alex Hargreaves took home Instrumentalist of the Year, while the packed-out crowd were also treated to stellar performances from both established Americana titans and exciting prodigies, such as Margo Price, Joy Oladokun, Emmylou Harris, John Fogerty, Jesse Welles, I'm With Her, SG Goodman and many more.
Buddy Miller once again took the helm for the Americana All-Star Band, which featured Don Was, The McCrary Sisters, Fred Eltringham, Jen Gunderman, Jim Hoke and Larry Campbell.
Shortly after the momentous show, Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association and Foundation, gushed, “We saw the breadth of the Americana community and spirit. This legacy has stood strong for over two decades and will continue for many more to come”. His sentiments were shared by attendees during this celebration of this wonderful, beloved and constantly evolving genre.
