Ever since he concluded his 2024 Ain't My Last Rodeo tour, Riley Green has been knee-deep in hunting season - but thankfully, it seems he's found some time for songwriting, too.
It's a running joke within the country world that the Alabama native adores hunting a lot more than music, and that he reluctantly drags himself away from the forest when it's time to work on new tunes. However, in reality, Riley Green would argue it's possible to love two things, and whenever he steps off the tour-bus and gets into his full camouflage gear, it always seems to get Riley's creative juices flowing.
Excitingly, the ‘Different ‘Round Here’ hitmaker has taken to Instagram to share a brand new unreleased track, ’What Am I Supposed Do’, just a matter of months after dropping his widely lauded new studio album, Don't Mind If I Do, back in October.
The new offering is a beautifully stripped-back track, with Riley Green's weathered, charismatic vocals gliding across a rhythmic, acoustic guitar riff, as he croons dejectedly about how he's leaning on the liquor in an attempt to soothe his heartbreak.
The ‘Get That Man a Beer’ singer-songwriter reflects, “I'm lonely, that ain't nothing new / ‘Cause every single minute I got I'm spending here missing you / Who could blame me, for holding on / I'm damned if I pick up that phone, but I'm a little damned if I don't”.
Riley Green is pretty good - especially when compared to his fellow country stars - at not making fans wait too long before they hear the full studio versions of his demos. We're keeping our fingers crossed he drops ’What Am I Supposed to Do’ before he reaches for his crossbow and returns to his happy place out in the woods.

“I'm lonely, that ain't nothing new
‘Cause every single minute I got I'm spending here missing you
Who could blame me, for holding on
I'm damned if I pick up that phone, but I'm a little damned if I don't
-
‘Cause right now I'm running on cigarette smoke
Cheap well whiskey wishing you would come home
But you ain't here to save me
So this heartbreak can take me
-
Back down missing you memory lane
Going past sober like a runaway train
There ain't no doubt about
This poor heart is nearly drowning
-
I'm stuck in this bottle, and I got no way out
What am I supposed to do now?
Yeah, what am I supposed to do now?”
