Riley Green is rumoured to be appearing in Taylor Sheridan's forthcoming Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, which finds Luke Grimes reprising his beloved role as Kayce Dutton.
The first episode of Season One is due to air on Sunday, March 1st via CBS, with each instalment then being released on subsequent Sundays. After premiering via CBS, each episode will then be available to stream exclusively via Paramount+.
When the official trailer for the new series dropped, most of us were too panicked at the heavy implication that Kayce's wife, Monica, dies at the start of the Marshals timeline. Monica was a stand-out character in the Yellowstone universe, and the couple finally got their happy ending after years of strife in the original series.
We're still holding out hope that Monica might feature. However, with Kelsey Asbille confirmed to not be returning for the series, it seems all but certain that the character is gone.
With the shock surrounding this development, another exciting revelation was missed by the majority of viewers. Some eagle-eyed fans, though, have spotted what appears to be Riley Green appearing in a brief clip in the Marshals Season One trailer.
Still from Marshals Season One Trailer
Green looks to be playing a musician in the new series, with the ‘Worst Way’ singer-songwriter's unmistakable moustache giving him away during a fleeting campfire scene.
Green's involvement in this new series is yet to be officially announced, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time Sheridan has recruited country stars to appear in Yellowstone-related ventures. Lainey Wilson famously plays Abby, while Tim McGraw and Faith Hill starred in the viscerally poetic and utterly heartbreaking 1883. What's more, the likes of Zach Bryan, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, Shane Smith & The Saints and Ryan Bingham have all featured, too.
Green hinted a few months ago during a conversation with Katie Neal for Audacy's Katie & Company that he had been doing some filming for an undisclosed show.
Although he remained coy throughout, the Alabama native did mention in that discussion that he already had a good rapport with his co-actor. Given the fact that Grimes has taken part in the CMA Awards before and is a respected country artist, like Green, it's likely their paths will have crossed at various points in recent years.
We'll have to wait for the full cast unveiling before we know for sure if Green's mysterious acting gig is indeed Marshals, but either way, the excitement is sky-high for Sheridan's new Yellowstone spin-off. Thankfully, despite the main series coming to its explosive conclusion in December 2024, there are a host of other spin-offs planned for release in the coming months, including The Madison and Dutton Ranch. The latter will follow Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they continue their enchanting love-story in their new Montana home.
