Parker McCollum brought his latest chart-topping hit to the CMT Music Awards Sunday night (April 7) at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
The Texas native was joined by Brittney Spencer to perform his newly minted No. 1 song 'Burn It Down'.
The duo performed on a stage lined with flames as they dazzled the crowd, with Spencer’s pitch-perfect vocal dancing around McCollum’s distinctive angst. She dazzled in an embellished red dress while he appeared in his signature black T-shirt and matching cap.
The slow burn leads into an inferno by the time it reaches a guitar solo half-way through. That inferno embodied the chemistry between McCollum and Spencer shared on stage.
The hit, co-written with the Love Junkies, finds the protagonist stuck in a house full of memories, deciding definitively to "burn it down".
Earlier in the night, Hallie Ray Light McCollum debuted her baby bump on the red carpet. The couple announced they were having a baby boy in August.
Meanwhile, the Baltimore-bred country artist Brittney Spencer was nominated for Female Breakthrough Video of the Year with the visual daydream 'Bigger Than The Song'. Spencer was also featured on Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' rendition of The Beatles 'Blackbird', alongside fellow rising Black female country artists Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts.
During the star-studded evening, the 2024 CMT Awards enjoyed captivating performances from Kelsea Ballerini, who did double duty as the night's sole host, as well as Trisha Yearwood, Bailey Zimmerman and more.
